During my 38 year career at HAFB I Worked as an Aircraft Electronics Technician, Missile Electronics Technician, Instructional System Development Specialist, Instructional Program Manager, finishing my career as Chief of Civilian Training at HAFB. I retired from HAFB in May 2004.
My Career as an Army Reserve Soldier provided me with various periods of active duty and interesting assignments. I attained the rank of sergeant while enlisted, then as a commissioned officer, I had numerous and exciting assignments. I was a Commander of 2 Artillery Batteries, Battalion Operations/Training officer, Battalion Executive officer, Reserve Command Inspector's General, Battalion Commander, Group Logistics Operations officer, Instructor for USAR Command & General Staff College, Assistant Commandant of a USAR School, Deputy Chief of Staff-Operations and Director of Resource Management. During my military career I attended and completed the US Army Command & General Staff College at Ft Leavanworth, KN, the US Army Logistics Management College at Ft Lee, VA as well as many other military schools. I retired from the US Army Reserve in Aug 1996 after 34 years as a Colonel. Over the many years I have been actively invloved with the Boy Scouts of America. 13 years as a Scoutmaster/Coach/Advisor. Involved at the District Level as a Trainer, Roundtable Staff member, District Commissioner, Council Training Staff, etc. I have been actively involved with Scouting for over 40 years. I have also been a member of the Washington Terrace City Planning Commission for several years. I have been and am currently the Chairman of the Planning Commission. I have and continue to stay involved in Church activities and events. Aside from all of the above stuff. I have had a great time with my family, being a husband and father of two boys has been a great pleasure of my life. Now I enjoy the pleasures of having seven grandchildren and being part of their lives. During the past few years Dorma and I have been able to travel in our Winnebago motor home and enjoy seeing a good part of the USA. We travel with a few friends and enjoy retirement. I have recently found the fun and enjoyment of driving an ATV. Or I should say a UTV (ultimate terrain vehicle). I have a Polaris Ranger RZR. It seats 2 people side-by-side. We are having fun and excitement riding around the mountains and desert. I suppose it's just a phase of "postponing growing up." Life has been and it is still great.

School Story:

Home Room as a Senior. It was the first year Weber had a class called "Aeronautics". Our instructor was a former Navy Aviator who flew sea planes in the the Pacific during WWII. He was a good teacher, but as students we were not too good. The classroom was east of the cafeteria, so we were somewhat isolated from the rest of the school, not counting the shop classes. I recall one day when the teacher brought in his collections of knives and machetes he had collected from the pacific islands he had flown to. After a while learning about the items he had brought to class, he passed them out for us to handle. Not a good idea. After several desks received much carving and chopping, he collected the knives and machetes and wished he had not brought them to class. Several of the desks were so badly chopped up, that they disappeared from the classroom so as not to become a question of classroom behavior.
